I’m Max Friedle. I coach visually, I build the tools we work with, and I teach coaches to work the same way. Based in southern Germany. Working with people worldwide.
Visual coaching
The problem with most conversations about a hard thing is that you use the same words to talk about something the words can’t quite hold. You describe your situation. You feel the gap between what you said and what you meant. Then you describe again. The conversation circles.
Visual coaching breaks that loop by putting the thing somewhere both of us can see it. In a room, that is picture cards on the table, objects placed in relation to each other, a sketch on paper. Online, it is a shared board we both draw on. The medium follows the situation. What doesn’t change is the move itself: the thing stops being something you are inside of and becomes something you can point at, move, and argue with.
Everything below comes out of that one move. The coaching I do, the tools we make so it works on a table and on a screen, and the academy where coaches learn it.
An external object that holds the shape of the internal thing, so two people can look at it. The whole technique
One · The Coaching
1:1 visual coaching, for people who can describe the problem fluently and still can’t see their way through it. Sessions run online in whatever video tool you already use. The board itself is metaFox.online, so we are both drawing on the same surface, and it is yours afterwards.
Three full sessions, published with each coachee’s consent. Watch what actually happens.

Max is a confident, effective and motivating coach. He showed me how to trigger myself, posing simple questions and building on the answers I provided, enabling me to say out loud things that were circulating in my mind. He motivated me to try activities that I wanted but always found excuses and postponed.

Maximilian from metaFox really transformed the vision I had of my organization. He helped me draw baselines, job descriptions, RACI matrix, to enhance the communication between the team and myself. Clear roles for everyone, which brought a lot more involvement from everyone as well.

Two · The Tools
metaFox is the company Tobias Weghorn and I started in 2018, and where I have been Managing Director since 2022. We make the things a visual conversation needs: a deck you can put on a table, and a board you can share on a screen.

Ecommerce
Picture cards, strength cards, emotion cards, and the rest of the deck family. Made for coaches, therapists, facilitators, and educators. More than 150,000 sold, in over 40 countries.

Software
The online coaching suite, and the board I use in my own sessions. The same tools, built for the screen, so a session works the same whether you’re in the room or on a call.

Recognition
The BDVT, the German professional association for training, consulting, and coaching, awarded the metaFox picture cards in the Tools category of the European Training Award 2024.
It is the industry’s own jury looking at the cards and saying they work. Which is a useful second opinion when the rest of this page is me telling you so.
Three · The Academy
I train coaches, therapists, and facilitators to work visually, online and in the room. Two programs, depending on which one you want to be good at.

Online
The certification for coaching visually on a screen. Twelve weeks online, for practising coaches who want to add a visual dimension to how they already work.

On site
Three days in a room, immersive, with the cards and each other. This is the one people describe as the point where their own coaching changed.

About
I have always loved working with people, and at the same time wanted to understand how the world works.
Engineering taught me the outside world: how it is put together and why it behaves the way it does. People follow different rules, and developing them is what I have a passion for.
At metaFox I get to bring both together, the technical side and the people side, in the same job. It is a winning combination, and I have been proving it since university, when friends and I started BEST. There will be more.
